14 BGB platoons deployed in Dhaka, nearby districts amid arson attacks
Buses have been set afire recently ahead of the Awami League's 'lockdown' tomorrow.
The government has deployed 14 platoons of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Dhaka and adjoining districts to maintain law and order amid incidents of vehicle torching.
Shariful Islam, public relations officer at the BGB headquarters, said this morning (12 November) that 12 platoons have been stationed in Dhaka, while the remaining two have been deployed in nearby districts.
The paramilitary force has been positioned at key locations, including the InterContinental Dhaka, Dhanmondi 32, airport, Abdullahpur, Kakrail, Shishu Academy, the High Court area and Abrar Fahad Avenue.
Unidentified individuals have set fire to buses in Dhaka, Gazipur and other districts to create panic among the public, as the Awami League has announced a "lockdown" for tomorrow (13 November) ahead of a verdict scheduled to be delivered by the International Crimes Tribunal against Sheikh Hasina and others in a case involving crimes against humanity.
