JCD leader killed, 15 injured in clash over local dominance in Brahmanbaria
Additional members of police have been deployed to maintain order in the area

A leader of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), the student wing of BNP, was killed and at least 15 others injured in a clash between two rival groups at Chatalpar Bazar in Nasirnagar upazila of Brahmanbaria this afternoon (5 July).
The deceased was identified as Sohrab Mia, 28, son of late Chan Mia of Kathalkandi village and joint secretary of JCD's Chhatlapar union unit.
The injured are currently receiving treatment at local healthcare facilities.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (Sarail circle) Tapan Sarkar said the conflict between the Ulta group and the Molla group from Katalkandi village in Chatalpar Union had been brewing for months and ultimately turned deadly today.
Police intervened to bring the situation under control, said the officer, adding that that additional forces have been deployed to maintain order in the area.
According to police and local sources, the confrontation between the groups erupted around 1pm at Chatalpar Bazar. Both factions reportedly used locally-made weapons during the hour-long clash.
Deceased Sohrab Mia was reportedly a supporter of the Molla group.
