'Regrettably received complaints all night': Dhaka-3 BNP candidate Gayeshwar reports polling fraud
Many people – particularly Jamaat workers – were entering polling centres, he says
Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, member of the BNP's Standing Committee and candidate for Dhaka-3 (part of Keraniganj), said today (12 February) that he had received numerous complaints throughout the night regarding irregularities at polling centres.
Speaking to reporters after casting his vote at Arakul Government Primary School in South Keraniganj around 8am, Gayeshwar expressed concern over the situation.
"At 10pm, 12am and 1am, many people – particularly Jamaat workers – were entering polling centres," he said.
"So far, the authorities at Zinzira PM Pilot High School have not been able to remove them. I am on my way to investigate why they have not been evicted and to identify where the administrative weakness lies," he added.
Reflecting on the broader political context, he remarked that the current election is a struggle for the people's right to vote, which he claimed had been denied for the past 17 years.
"We want every voter to be able to cast their ballot at their respective centres without hindrance," he said.
Expressing confidence in the outcome, he added, "We believe we will be victorious this time. This is not just our expectation, but the expectation of the general public. Many have sacrificed their lives, and many have fallen victim to murder and enforced disappearance to protect the right to vote."
