Polling officer dies at Brahmanbaria voting centre, doctor suspects stroke
Preliminarily, it appears to be a stroke-related death, doctor says
A polling officer died while on duty at a voting centre in Sarail upazila of Brahmanbaria today (12 February).
The deceased was identified as Mujahidul Islam, 48, son of the late Golam Mawla of Halua Para village in the upazila.
According to polling centre sources, he suddenly fell ill and collapsed during voting at the Nazrul Islam Auditorium centre in the morning.
Other officials and members of the law enforcement agencies deployed at the centre took him to Sarail Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Surail Upazila Health and Family Planning Official Dr Md Mohammad Nizam Uddin said he had died before being brought to the hospital.
Preliminarily, it appears to be a stroke-related death, he added.
