'Please, refrain from extortion until the 12th': BNP Ctg-13 candidate Sarwar
A 55-second video of his remarks has since spread on social media, sparking widespread discussion online.
BNP-nominated candidate for the Chattogram-13 (Anwara and Karnafuli) constituency Sarwar Jamal Nizam has appealed to the public to refrain from extortion activities until 12 February, the day of the national polls.
"I would request those who are involved in extortion, please refrain from extortion until the 12th," he said while inaugurating an election office in the Chatari area of Anwara upazila last night (6 February).
A 55-second video of his remarks has since spread on social media, sparking widespread discussion online.
In the video, Sarwar describes Chatari as the economic hub and a highly important area of Anwara.
He says the region holds immense economic significance due to its business activities and the income of its residents.
Extortion, anarchy and terrorism are ongoing there, he alleged.
The Business Standard made several attempts to reach Sarwar over the phone for further comments, but he could not be contacted.
