BNP lawmaker ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon, newly elected from Chandpur-1, is likely to be appointed education minister in the new government.
Milon reportedly received a call earlier today (17 February) regarding his appointment to the post.
He previously served as state minister for education from 2001 to 2006 during the BNP-led government.
During his tenure, he was known for taking strict measures against cheating and strengthening oversight of public examinations.
He visited multiple examination centres across different education boards, sometimes travelling by helicopter to conduct inspections.
Earlier in the day, newly elected MPs took oath, marking the start of the new parliamentary term.
Following the ceremony, several lawmakers received calls from the Cabinet Division regarding their appointments as ministers and state ministers.
The swearing-in ceremony of the prime minister, ministers and state ministers is scheduled to be held at 4pm today.
