Certain victory claims raise suspicion of election engineering: Mirza Abbas
He said such claims raise suspicions of possible vote rigging or “election engineering”.
BNP Standing Committee member and Dhaka-8 candidate Mirza Abbas today (2 February) questioned how individuals with no public engagement could claim a certain victory in the upcoming election.
He said such claims raise suspicions of possible vote rigging or "election engineering".
Speaking to journalists after prayers at the Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital Mosque, Abbas said he has been contesting elections in the area since 1977 but has never claimed guaranteed victory.
"Even as an experienced politician, I cannot say I am sure to win. Yet those who have never contested polls, lack public engagement, and are not involved in local development claim assured victory," he said.
Commenting on recent remarks by the Jamaat-e-Islami ameer regarding women, Abbas said the leader had a history of making controversial statements and questioned claims that his social media account was hacked, noting that hacked IDs are rarely recovered so quickly.
Later in the day, Abbas conducted campaign activities in Shahjahanpur and surrounding areas, seeking votes for the BNP's sheaf of paddy symbol.
