BNP wins in 3 out of 4 constituencies in Faridpur
BNP Organising Secretary Shama Obaed was elected with 1,21,694 votes in Faridpur-2
BNP candidates have won three out of four parliamentary seats in Faridpur district, while Jamaat-e-Islami secured victory in the remaining constituency, according to unofficial results announced early today (13 February).
The results were declared at around 1:30am by Faridpur Deputy Commissioner and District Returning Officer Md Kamrul Hasan Mollah.
In Faridpur-1 (Boalmari-Alfadanga-Madhukhali), Jamaat candidate Elias Molla secured victory with 1,54,145 votes under the party's "Scales" symbol.
His nearest rival, BNP candidate Khandakar Nasirul Islam, received 1,26,476 votes with the "Sheaf of Paddy" symbol.
A total of eight candidates contested in the constituency, which has 5,04,461 registered voters, the highest among the four seats in the district.
In Faridpur-2 (Nagarkanda-Saltha), BNP candidate and the party's Organising Secretary Shama Obaed Islam Rinku was elected with 1,21,694 votes. Her closest contender, Md Akram Ala, who contested with the rickshaw symbol, received 89,305 votes. The constituency has 381,978 registered voters.
In Faridpur-3 (Sadar), BNP candidate and Joint Secretary of the central committee of Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal, Chowdhury Nayab Yusuf Ahmed, won with 1,48,545 votes. Her nearest rival from Jamaat obtained 1,24,115 votes with the scales symbol.
The seat comprises 4,64,834 registered voters.
In Faridpur-4 (Sadarpur-Charbhadrasan-Madhukhali), BNP candidate Shohidul Islam Babul, general secretary of the central committee of Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal, secured victory with 1,27,443 votes while his nearest Jamaat rival received 75,805 votes.
The constituency has 4,47,668 registered voters.
