Food and Land Adviser Ali Imam Majumder has warned that any irregularities or corruption in the ongoing Aman paddy and rice procurement drive will be met with strict punitive action.
Speaking at a discussion at the Cumilla Circuit House auditorium today (8 December), Majumder said procurement prices have been raised to support farmers with paddy at Tk34 per kg, parboiled rice at Tk50, and atap rice at Tk49.
Mentioning that the national Aman procurement programme will run until 28 February 2026, but with many officials to be occupied with the February elections, Majumder urged completing most of the target by December.
"We must give utmost priority to reaching the targets. The Food Directorate and the Ministry of Food will provide full support. Millers who meet procurement targets will receive additional allocations," he said.
Speaking as special guest, Md Abul Hasanat Humayun Kabir, director general of the Directorate General of Food, said that "Everything is being closely monitored. No irregularities will be tolerated."
