Possible to supply pesticides at 30-40% lower prices with govt assistance: NAC MD

If the government provides policy support and economic assistance, it would be possible to produce pesticides worth Tk7,500 crore every year in the country, KSM Mostafizur Rahman, managing director of National AgriCare Group (NAC) said today (5 May).
"This will make it possible to supply pesticides to farmers at a 30-40% lower price than the current market price. As a result, our agriculture will be affordable," he also said while speaking at a panel discussion speech on food security and farmers' fairness at the first session of the 'Agriculture, Security and Biodiversity Conference' organised by Banik Barta at the Sonargaon Hotel in the capital.
Demanding the formation of an agricultural commission, Mostafizur said in several cases, including the import of necessary inputs for production, the institutions involved in production, including farmers, are facing adversities. "It is necessary to form an Agricultural Commission to overcome all these crises."
