Jeffrey Epstein's pervasive influence on US elite society
During testimony in Congress in 2019, Stacey Plaskett was exchanging messages with Jeffrey Epstein on her mobile phone. It was later revealed that Epstein had asked Plaskett to ask about an employee of the Trump Organization. Even after his conviction in 2008, Epstein remained influential in American elite society. His network included politicians, businessmen, academics and influential figures. Lord Mandelson and Noam Chomsky kept in touch with him. Trump was the only one who broke off the relationship. Analysts say that many could not say 'no' to him outright because of power, influence and social pressure.
