Police arrest 2 over killing of former Swecchasebak Dal leader in Dhaka
Billal Hossain Talukdar was killed around 8pm yesterday (8 June) after being stabbed in the right side of his chest in front of the Anarkali Market area in Mouchak
Police arrested two individuals today (9 June) in connection with the killing of Billal Hossain Talukdar, a former convenor of the Swecchasebak Dal in Mouchak.
The arrestees were identified as Md Riaz and Al Amin, but police have not yet disclosed further details about them.
They were arrested during overnight raids in Dhaka and Munshiganj, confirmed Ramna Zone Assistant Commissioner of Police Md Mazharul Islam.
He said, "Two people had been detained over the killing of the Swecchasebak Dal leader. Further details will be provided at a police briefing."
The police official also said that the process of filing a case is under way.
"Once the case is registered, the two detainees will be shown arrested in the case and produced before a court," he added.
Billal Hossain Talukdar was killed around 8pm yesterday (8 June) after being stabbed in the right side of his chest in front of the Anarkali Market area in Mouchak.
According to the victim's family, a local meeting was held in front of Anarkali Market following an incident in which Billal's nephew had allegedly been assaulted. During an argument at the meeting, members of the opposing group allegedly stabbed Billal in the chest.
He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
