Customers' forum holds sit-in at Islami Bank demanding chairman's removal again
Since 1 June, the forum has been holding a series of continuous programmes calling for the resignation of the Islami Bank chairman.
The Islami Bank "Sacheton Grahok Forum" has again began a sit-in programme in front of Islami Bank today (9 June), demanding the removal of Chairman Md Khurshid Alam.
Female customers also took part in today's demonstration.
Since 1 June, the forum has been holding a series of continuous programmes calling for the resignation of the Islami Bank chairman.
The "Islami Bank Sacheton Grahok Forum" began a large-scale demonstration in the capital on 1 June. On the third day of the protest on 3 June, they marched through the city to demand the chairman's exit and urged bank employees to join the corporate strike.
Later on 4 June, there arose reports of a pen-down strike by employees of Islami Bank, prompting Acting Managing Director Altaf Hussain to warn of strict action against non-compliant staff.
Employees continued work stoppage sparsely throughout the last few days.
Yesterday (8 June), Islami Bank employees staged demonstrations at the same time observed a two-hour work stoppage.
During the protest, the demonstrators called for the chairman's resignation and observed a two-hour work stoppage at all Islami Bank branches across the country.
At the bank's Motijheel branch, customer presence was reportedly minimal during the programme.
