CEC seeks 300 judicial officials for election duty
“Judicial support is essential to ensure a fair election. The chief justice has assured full cooperation,” CEC AMM Nasir Uddin says
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has requested the chief justice to assign 300 judicial officials during the upcoming national election.
"Judicial support is essential to ensure a fair election. The chief justice has assured full cooperation," he told reporters at the Supreme Court premises after a meeting with Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed today (9 December).
As per longstanding practice, the Election Commission holds pre-scheduled meetings with the head of the judiciary. However, this year, the CEC visited the chief justice, accompanied only by the EC secretary.
Earlier in the day, the CEC met with the chief justice to discuss overall election preparations.
Meanwhile, Election Commissioner Abdur Rahmanel Masud today confirmed that the election and referendum schedule will be announced either tomorrow evening after the commission's meeting with the president, or the day after.
