Team ‘The Leaf’ brings global recognition for DU at Green Talent Awards
Team "The Leaf" from the Department of Accounting, University of Dhaka, has secured the 1st runners-up position in the JEL ISABC & Edupro Green Talent Awards 2025, earning international recognition for Bangladesh.
The team—comprising Safwan Sajjad (Team Leader), Md Abu Bokkor Siddik Rahim, and Md Mozzammel Hossain from the 27th Batch of the department—stood out among 156 teams representing 16 countries. After three competitive rounds, only six teams advanced to the Grand Finale.
In the final round, their presentation video was showcased at the University of Leeds, where they addressed a sustainability challenge involving an Eco Pop-Up Shop. Their solution proposed a nanocellulose-based water filtration system, offering an innovative approach to sustainable clean water practices.
Although the team participated virtually, their ideas and presentation received high commendation from the judges. Ms Farjana Chowdhury, an alumna of the Department of Accounting, played a key role in mentoring the team throughout the finale. She, along with Mr Tanjil Hossain, an alumnus of the Department of Management, received the award on the team's behalf at the ceremony.
The achievement of Team "The Leaf" highlights the creativity, innovation, and global competitiveness of students from the University of Dhaka, marking another milestone in the university's legacy of academic excellence.
