Army revokes Brig Gen Azmi's dismissal order, grants retirement with benefits
Azmi was sacked from the army after the Awami League government came to power in 2009
Bangladesh Army has revoked the termination order of Brigadier General (retd) Abdullahil Amaan Azmi, the son of the late Jamaat-e-Islami chief Ghulam Azam.
On 24 December, Azmi's dismissal order was rescinded and he was retrospectively placed on "premature (compulsory) retirement" effective from 24 June 2009, with all applicable financial and other benefits, according to a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate today (27 December).
Simultaneously, the dismissal notification issued by the Ministry of Defence on 23 June 2009 was also cancelled.

Azmi was sacked from the army after the Awami League government came to power in 2009.
He went missing on the night of 22 August 2016 after he was abducted by law enforcement agencies from his Boro Moghbazar house in the capital.
On 6 August this year, a day after the Awami League government fell in a mass uprising, Azmi returned home to his family after he was released from Aynaghar – the secret detention centres ran by the autocrat regime – after six years of confinement.
