KFA, BMFA partnership opens scope to expand seafood trade
Deep Sea Fishers Limited has showcased Bangladeshi seafood at the K-Seafood Show 2026 in Seoul, South Korea, aiming to boost exports and strengthen fisheries cooperation between Bangladesh and South Korea.
The three-day exhibition, held from 19 to 21 May at the COEX Exhibition Centre, was inaugurated by Korea Fisheries Association Chairman Young-Hoon Chung, according to a press release.
Bangladesh Ambassador to South Korea Toufiq Islam Shatil, ndc, formally inaugurated the Deep Sea Fishers Limited stall.
In February 2026, the Korea Fisheries Association and the Bangladesh Marine Fisheries Association signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance cooperation, trade, technological exchange, and investment in the marine fisheries sector between the two nations.
KFA Chairman Young-Hoon Chung and BMFA President Enam Chowdhury signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations.
A three-member delegation from Deep Sea Fishers Limited participated in the exhibition under the banner of the Bangladesh Marine Fisheries Association, upon invitation from the Korea Fisheries Association.
The delegation included Akhtaruz Zaman Khan Kabir, Syeda Sumaiya and Maruf Us Shaheed.
Participation is expected to further strengthen Bangladesh–South Korea cooperation in the fisheries and seafood sectors.
The Embassy of Bangladesh in Seoul provided support to the participants and assisted the delegation in promoting Bangladeshi seafood products in the international market.
