GPH Ispat hosts seminar on B600D-R rebar design innovation
GPH Ispat Limited, one of the country's leading steel manufacturers, recently organised a technical seminar entitled 'Design Guidelines and Code Provisions for Using Higher-Grade Rebar (B600D-R) in RCC Structures: Exploring Opportunities for Rebar Savings in the Context of Bangladesh'.
The event brought together leading engineers, architects, and academics to discuss structural efficiency, modern design practices, and the role of sustainable materials in advancing Bangladesh's construction sector.
Prominent engineering experts, Professor Dr M. Shamim Z. Bosunia, Professor Dr Syed Fakhrul Ameen, and Professor Dr Raquib Ahsan, attended as distinguished guests. From GPH Ispat, Managing Director Mohammed Jahangir Alam, Additional Managing Director Mohammed Almas Shimul, Director Abdul Ahad, Director Sadman Syka Sefa, and Senior General Manager (Sales & Marketing) Mohammad Mamun Kabir were present, alongside other senior officials. Md Saiful Islam, Deputy General Manager and Head of TMPM, shared insights on rebar applications and market innovations.
The keynote address was delivered by Engr Abdullah Al Hossain Chowdhury (Rizvi), PEng, who outlined the design and economic advantages of high-grade rebar in reinforced concrete construction.
'By using high-quality rebar (B600D-R), we are ensuring greater structural stability and safety while unlocking new possibilities for cost efficiency and resource optimisation,' he said. 'This technology will drive innovation and sustainable growth in Bangladesh's construction industry.'
