BGB seizes Tk168cr worth of smuggled goods in November raids
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized various types of smuggled goods worth Tk168 crore 38 lakh 57 thousand during raids in border areas and other parts of the country in November, 2025.
The seized items include 2kg 266.22g of gold, 121g of silver, 17,234 saris, 21,338 three-pieces, shirt pieces, chadars and blankets, 27,450 ready-made garments, 9,740 metres of than cloth, 3,40,380 cosmetics items, 6,564 pieces of imitation jewellery, 10,09,421 fireworks, 6,216 cubic feet of wood, 1,284kg of tea leaves, 11,479kg of betel nut, 66,546kg of coal, 12,890 cubic feet of stone, 597kg of yarn/current/door net, 15,178 plastic and electronic items, 445 mobile phones, 15,145 mobile displays, 73,564 glasses, 37,690.5kg of cumin, 4,970kg of sugar, 1,63,490kg of onions, 1,731kg of garlic, 4,680 packets of seeds, 6,320kg of fertiliser, 2,684 packets of pesticides, 485 litres of diesel, 1,68,021 pieces of chocolate, 819 cows and buffaloes, 16 trucks and covered vans, 17 pickups and Mahendras, four tractors, two private cars and microbuses, 14 trolleys, 179 boats, 38 CNGs and easy bikes, 54 motorcycles, and 31 bicycles and vans.
Recovered weapons include four locally made pistols, one hand grenade, two magazines, 19 rounds of ammunition, 2kg 300g of gunpowder, three mines, six cocktails and nine other weapons.
BGB also seized a large quantity of narcotics during the month. These include 20,58,789 Yaba tablets, 193g of heroin, 3,714 bottles of Phensedyl, 7,176 bottles of foreign liquor, 203.9 litres of Bangla liquor, 608 cans of beer, 1,526kg 50g of marijuana, 1,17,851 packets of bidis and cigarettes, 50,585 narcotic tablets and injections, 3,463 bottles of Escafe syrup, 8,156 Anegra and Senegra tablets, 56,120 alcohol-making pills, and 7,67,923 pieces of various medicines and tablets.
During border operations, BGB arrested 159 smugglers on charges of involvement in drug trafficking, including Yaba and other contraband. It also detained 137 Bangladeshi citizens and two Indian citizens for illegally crossing the border, and legal action has been taken against them. In addition, 403 Myanmar citizens attempting to enter Bangladesh were returned to their country.
