Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman has accused a certain political party of attempting to derail the upcoming national election, saying the party that had been "chanting for elections" are now trying to derail it.
Without mentioning the party's name, the Jamaat ameer said, "Those who are looking for shortcuts to grab power should remember that the public has already shown them the red card."
Speaking at a rally at Alia Madrasah ground in Sylhet today (6 December), he warned that those who are "emerging as new oppressors" will soon face a difficult situation.

"Even if the fascist rulers have fled, the shadow of fascism has not disappeared from the country. One group imposed fascism for 17 years, and now another group is trying to bring it back," Shafiqur alleged.
At the same event, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis Ameer Mamunul Haque said, "Seeing our divisional programmes, one party has completely lost its temper. They are now conspiring to delay the election."
Islami Andolan Bangladesh Ameer Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim said the massive turnout in seven divisional rallies proved that people support their five-point demands.
"After the July Uprising, people demanded state reform, justice for fascist leaders, and a fair election. But those aspirations have been buried – that is why we are back on the streets," he said.
Rezaul Karim added that the public will reject "those involved in extortion, corruption, and criminal activities" in the upcoming polls.
