Journalist Shaukat Mahmood detained by DB
He was picked up from the capital’s Malibagh area this afternoon
Senior journalist Shaukat Mahmood, former president of the National Press Club and secretary general of the Janata Party Bangladesh, has been detained from his Malibagh residence.
He was picked up by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Detective Branch (DB) this afternoon (7 December), DB Chief Additional Commissioner Shafiqul Islam told The Business Standard.
Shafiqul stated that Shaukat Mahmud was held in connection with the Enayet Karim case filed at Ramna Police Station.
Bangladeshi-born US citizen Enayet Karim Chowdhury was earlier arrested in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act for allegedly conspiring to overthrow the interim government.
