Ducsu election in 2nd week of September, schedule to be announced 29 July
Prof Zashim said that there are plans to hold the election on a holiday.
The Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) election is scheduled to be held in the second week of September.
The official election schedule will be announced on 29 July.
Prof Md Zashim Uddin, chief returning officer of the Ducsu election and a faculty member of the Department of Botany at Dhaka University, confirmed the development to The Business Standard this afternoon (20 July).

Election on holiday
Prof Zashim said that there are plans to hold the election on a holiday.
"The DMP has said that if we want to control traffic, it would be better to hold the election on a holiday. Therefore, we will finalise the election date considering a Saturday, Tuesday, or any day when there is no political party rally," he said.
He further added that they (election commission) will receive the draft voter lists from the dormitories (hall) on the 24 July. The university's ICT Cell will be given two more days to observe and process the list, he said.
"We will officially announce the election schedule on any day after July 29. The election date will be declared on the same day the schedule is announced," he said.
It was stated in the meeting that students of the 2018–2019 academic session who have already had their master's results published are not eligible to be voters or candidates in the upcoming Ducsu or hall union elections.
Voting will take place at six neutral centres
Curzon Hall Centre (Examination Hall): Students of Dr Muhammad Shahidullah Hall, Amar Ekushey Hall, and Fazlul Huq Hall will cast their votes here.
Physical Education Centre: Students of Jagannath Hall, Shaheed Sergeant Zahurul Huq Hall and Salimullah Muslim Hall will vote at this centre.
Teacher-Student Centre (TSC): Students of Rokeya Hall, Shamsunnahar Hall and Sufia Kamal Hall will vote here.
Dhaka University Club Centre: Students of Bangladesh-Kuwait Maitree Hall and Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall will cast their votes here.
Senate Building Centre (Alumni Floor, Seminar Room, Dining Room): Students of Sir AF Rahman Hall, Haji Muhammad Mohsin Hall and Bijoy Ekattor Hall will vote at this centre.
Udayan School and College Centre: Students of Surjo Sen Hall, Muktijoddha Ziaur Rahman Hall, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall and Jasimuddin Hall will vote here.
Earlier, the returning officials exchanged views with the student representatives of various department and Institute for second time as part of the preparation of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) and Hall Sangsad Polls 2025.
The second-round meeting was held at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university on Monday (14 July).
First round meeting was held on last Sunday (13 July).
The student representatives gave their opinions on various aspects including polls preparation, administrative cooperation and security arrangement, and voting process.
They also gave various recommendations to ensure the environment of free, fair and peaceful election.
The Ducsu Election Commission, formed on 16 June, held its first meeting on 22 June.
Chief Returning Officer Prof Mohammad Zashim Uddin announced that stakeholder consultations would guide the scheduling process.
The commission met all hall provosts on 24 June and held sessions with student bodies on 26 June.
